Hi Fred,
Ground ivy is tough to get rid of just about anywhere it grows. It will take constant vigilance to keep it out of your yard, partly because of the way it spreads. I found an article that should help you keep it under control. Wishing you the best!

You do not pull out, you must dig out at the root ball. It is not easy, I will give you that. Hire a clean up crew to do for you if that is easier, then treat the area. There are a number of products you can apply to stop it from growing back. I personally have not used any of them as I have pets and a toddler next door to consider so I go the environmentally friendly route which is boiling water, Epsom salt and boiling water or vinegar.
This is just the thing! I find this works wonderfully. You have to cut down the ivy and then brush this on the top of stem that is left where you cut it. Bonide
Hi Fred, hope this helps you.
If ground ivy is spread far and wide in your yard, and using a herbicide is a must, opt for a product that has ground ivy on the label. Carefully follow the product instructions, and apply the herbicide in fall when the weed is in its peak growth stage. Through winter, the weed will become weak and die off.
Hi Fred: The only thing I use for ground Ivy is a product by Ortho. It says that it kills Creeping Charlie, but so far it's only made it mad. Could be because it rained every day for 4 days after I sprayed :( Perhaps I need a second spraying :) Ortho Weed B Gon 32 oz. Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer For Lawns Ready-To-Spray 0398710 - The Home Depot It did take care of some of it, and the dandelions, but I have lots of both. The only thing I had to do was keep the cats inside for a few days.
Cut it off at the base and pour boiling water on the roots.
