What can i do with my Z-Brick wall in my kitchen?
We want to update my kitchen. We have a z brick wall that my husband wants to tear out. I would consider keeping it if I had some great ideas of how to modernize it.

You can paint over it but to be honest I think I would let my husband remove it and install something more modern. I do not think you will regret the change as it will brighten the area.
You could paint it or whitewash it.
Hi Sue! Actually, brick walls are a big thing right now, especially in kitchens. People are trying to find ways to make faux brick walls in their spaces. If you want a brighter look though, you could paint the brick white, or even white wash the brick:

I love the mirrors and agree that you could lighten the room a little. The wall also seems busy. Things are jammed in snug as a bug between the mirrors, though. Can we unclutter or purge a little first? Then looking at just the wall may give you a better idea. Let us know, Sue, what you and your hubby decide! Take plenty of pics and share on Hometalk!!
I am with your husband. Take a picture of the wall so you can look back later and say "what was I thinking?". If you are truly looking to modernize your kitchen then that brick has to go. Trust me you will be much happier without it. BTW your picture is upside down lol.
De[ending on how old it is what it is installed over, you could release asbastos. I would dry wall over it and paint. Faster, cleaner and easier. Add beautiful molding.
I was gonna day white wash it too. That's what I wish my dad would do with his. His is that hideous early 80s brown/black color.
You could attach wood strapping and shiplap the wall.
Hi Sue,
I had the same dilemma but I really don't like the look of painted brick. My Z-Brick was black, gray & white but I was tired of looking at it aft 25 years or so. I decided the white wash it to give the room more light. Here's my project and how I did it.
