Clean and paint the front door. Plant a garden along the walkway and in front of the house (evergreen and flowering shrubs and colorful flowers around them). Put down sod. Some plants in pretty pots on each side of the garage door would look nice, too.
I'd try a light burgandy paint with white trim and shutters! Maybe a white or dark burgandy door n garage door. Make an area outlined with rocks along ur driveway on both sides n to the end of front of house bout 2-3ft out, add some short bushes spaced bout 3-5ft apart inside rock outline then fill with little rocks, then start spreading grass seed n watering lawn!
The white garage door is too stark and makes the rest of the house recede. Paint it a darker color and then contrast the garage door squares with a brighter color. Enhance the roof line with some type of large architectural elements painted in black to soften the harsh angles. Create a stone walkway from the front door to run along the driveway to make the entryway the focal point of the house instead of the garage. Run a flower bed along it to invite people in. A few low growing bushes on the left side below the window will give the property depth.
Paint that’s garage door! (grey or maroon). The white makes its stand out and it looks dated!!! Many great suggestions already regarding landscaping. Ornamental grasses may work too.
Take down the shutters. Put larger frame boards around the door alcove and stain them to match the darker trim boards around the window. Stain the vertical board over the garage the darker color also. Leave all the horizontal siding and the door alcove the color it is now but paint the rest of the house a light neutral color. Decide on the garage door color at the same time you pick the siding color. Then landscape for sure.
Modern uses clean lins and minimal adornment. The shutters are not modern do remove them.
The garage is not the house feature that is most desirable, do paint it a dark color that will make it receded and be less noticeable.
Choose a color for all the vertical boards and make them match.
Paint your front door a bright fun color which will bring it forward and create a mod vibe.
Replace the lighting fixtures with clean simple lines and a brushed nickel or stainless steel finish.
Using the same metal finish put up large address numbers and center them above the garage door.
Landscape using native grasses and perennials.
The shutters seem very out of place. Larger lights in an industrial style or something with straight lines . The vertical board at the corner of the garage door should be the same color as the trim at the window. Remove mullions from the window. New color scheme of light gray with dark gray accents, with red, purple, or lime green door. Paint the garage door one of the grays to help it blend in. Can't tell what the glass in the front door is like but replace it with a vertical ribbed glass or frost the glass that is in it and remove the ?lace curtain.
I would remove the shutters and repaint the whole house and garage in a neutral colour, such as a taupe or grey whatever is your preference. Chose a brighter colour for your entrance door such as red or teal. If the house is a Neutral shade it is easy to change your accent colour. Get a large planter to put under the entrance light, it should stand out from the house colour but not the same colour as your front door. Fill it with really bright flowers or grasses. clean u the yard and resseed your lawn for a start to improving your front yard.Your house has some really nice lines enhance them.
Is the tree on the left side of the picture on your property? If so, maybe you could raise the canopy to improve your grass growth. Also look up modern landscaping to see many cool ideas. I don't use Sherwin-Williams paint but they have a green called 'Tupelo Tree' that's a little deeper than lime green for your door- it's a very nice color!
Here are a few of the suggestions put into a rendering. My design training was in the modern classic style, so I would love to pass on some tips.
Keep color palette CLASSIC.
Architectural Bronze / dark neutral brown for wood trim, darker than currently used
Use your darkest actual wood-tone in your cedar to make garage door recede and blend
Use a classic accent color like red or cobalt blue at the front door
Get rid of shutters and light fixtures...
Replace light with classic modern like craftsman style
Get rid of panes in the glass window, may need to replace all. worthwhile!
Use structural landscaping at the front of your property line to add dimension, but not blocking view of door.
Paint the front door a fun pop of color. You can add two large planters in front of the entry way for even more curb appeal.
