Maureen...many are looking..me too..for something. had good product for about 3 years but now they just crawl out & build somewhere else. ours are fire ants & l am very allergic!
Hi Maureen, The ONLY thing that I have found that works on the ants at my home is a product called AMDRO Fire Ant Bait. I have those teeny tiny ants each year about this time and had tried various DIY recipes such as vinegar, vinegar and water, cornbread mix, etc., etc. Nothing worked until this. It is granular and you sprinkle it around the outside perimeter of you home. It attracts the ants to eat it and then take back to the queen ant so she can no longer produce. As I said, through the years I'd tried many different products and methods with varying degrees of success but this worked for me! It may take a couple of applications a week apart to kill all those pesky ants.
Now ant free!
Oatmeal, corn flour,
for fire ants try pouring boiling hot water on nest, oatmeal is also good.
terro is a good anti-ant product
I use diatomaceous earth. I'll plunge a garden spade into the middle of the hill, then sprinkle the DE on the mound. It definitely works, but since you're allergic, you may want someone else to apply it. I'd hate for you to get bitten in the process. Good luck!
We mix a few tablespoons of dish soap with one part canola oil and one/two parts water and it works fast but doesn't hurt vegetation. We do not use in the veggie garden, though. 'Knock on wood' I haven't had a problem there.
used Jif corn muffin mix. Worked great ants are gone!!
