How to get rid of rodents with out killing them

We have some type of critter/s running in our walls and between the floors of our country home. I would like to call in an exterminator, but am told we can not kill them. Is there any method to get them out of the house? Noise frequency, etc. ?

I've read that mice hate the smell of peppermint oil. You may have to set some type of trap for squirrels. I don't know that the frequency things work a lot,but I think the noise could hurt my dogs ears.

Well you certainly do not want to kill them when they are in you walls, who wants dead rodents in their walls? No one. What kind of exterminator did you call? Sounds like they are not up on things? I use no kill traps baited with dollar store peanut butter.
My ex hubster tried the ultrasonic units, he tested a number of brands. Never worked for him. Some say it bothers cats and dogs. Nope, not in our experience. I have 6 cats and between the two of us 6 dogs plus a canary and a dragon. Never bothered any of us, but did not work on the spiders or rodents either.
