How for the 2nd year am I getting these in my cucumbers?
Last year I planted field cucumbers and got a yellow oval thing growing instead of cucumbers. Wasn’t able to determine what they were. I bought new seeds different garden store this year and I got cucumbers except for one of these yellow ones again. Does anyone know what these are?

It is a cucumber. There are so many varieties out there this may be a random seed from last years plant that regrow. It could also be a stunted cucumber from this years plant. Lots of times if they are lacking nutrients they will not turn green and develop properly they instead turn yellow and are odd shaped. It can also be a virus. Do not eat the yellow cucumbers they are typically bitter and not good to eat. Old cucumbers will also turn yellow if left on the vines before shriveling up and dying. There are so many thing this could be.
If your other plants grow well I wouldn't concern yourself too much. If you continue to get these then you need to research what scenario in yyor specific area is causing this. Do a search on "cucumbers turning yellow" to learn all the reasons why and see if your soil or other conditions match the issues.
Cucumbers will inherently cling with their tendrils to anything they can grasp. In my experience having grown many varieties both ways you can grow them either way obviously. But you will get more uniform cucumber growing them as climbers and they are easier to locate when they hang from the vines.
This looks more like a Squash.Looks like these have been cut.Can you show a whole one?
Looks like a cross between a cuke and yellow squash.
cross pollination. Mr BumbleBee went from a gourd patch and right to your cucumber patch. He did a little wiggly in the cucumber flower & left for the day. The cucumber now has gourd pollen in it to make your now funky cucumbers. Happened to me 2 years in a row also. This year, regular cucumbers!!!
I agree with Cindy and Mary! Happened to me, too. Either you or a neighbor must have squash in the garden.
Agree, cross pollinated with another plant. I had some really strange ones one year.
Did you get regular cucumbers from the same vine? If not its probably a cross pollinated seed from the previous year that grew from last year's plants.
Some how you got Lemon Cucumbers, probably a packing or labeling error... and then maybe a volunteer this year. I purposely planted them and had more than I could eat but chickens seemed to enjoy them. https://www.burpee.com/vegetables/cucumbers/cucumber-lemon-prod000691.html
Likely a left over from last year that grew and that was likely mis-labeled seeds, looks like Lemon Cucumbers.
Lemon cucumbers are the best.
They are the best. Unique!
Looks like a lemon cucumber, maybe they got the seeds mixed up at the factory before packaging.
I have bought plants for the garden, only to discover someone had swapped out either plants or plastic marker tags for another variety of tomato. Last year I ended up with lots of cherry and grape tomatoes when I thought I had planted some Best Boys, Mortgage lifters, and Celebrity tomatoes.
