What is the best way to replace damaged screens?

Is it cheaper to buy what I need to re-screen my windows or have someone do it at the hardware store? They said each one would cost $35 for them to do. Any tips to DIY? Thanks!

Hello. I rescreened my patio door this year,and it was super cheap, and easy. I would try it yourself. It will be a lot cheaper. Just make sure you have the right tools. Good Luck! If you still aren't sure price out the screening and then decide.

This is a great beginner diy project. You can buy kits with the screen, spline and spline tool, but it's cheaper to buy your screen and spline in bulk from Amazon if you are doing several.
Redoing a screen is kind of fun. Get the roll-y tool to push the spline into the window. You also get the chance to pick new screen that is stronger. There's a lot of choices for screens.

Screens are easy to fix. I bought the solar screens, some spleen and a small tool to put the spleen in tight. I did it all by myself 20 window screens. It does not take too long. Just cut the screen to fit and spleen around the edges.
Go to your local home improvement store. They usually have the best selection of screens to choose from so you can get what you want. The metal screening is harder to put in, but may be what you want for the strength. The even have one if pets are causing the damage. One of the associates will be able to help you get everything you need. If you get a roll of the material, you will have some to do repairs as you need. I have even used it to keep out squirrels and chipmunks and digging until my bulbs that are in planters come up in the spring, good deterrent! It is definitely cheaper to do it yourself vs. having it done. When you put the spline in, make sure you have the screening tight with even pressure, you can always pull the spline out if the screen doesn't look right. You can easily replace them yourself if you buy the screen by the foot at home improvement. My husband one time simply bought enough screen to stitch over the damaged area. He did it with fishing line like you would baste with a large stitch. It worked! It was a rented home so he did not want to pay or bother owner about trivial
