How to use Hardie board?
I have a shed outside that has some damage to the exterior side, someone told me to replace it with HARDIE BOARD, Do I need to cover the outside of the Hardie board to protect it from the weather? Please, Please forgive my ignorance,, but this damage must be repaired, and my husband doesn't think that it does. So I am trying to repair it without his knowledge. (in defence of my husband, he had a stroke, and he doesn't want me to repair it LOLThank you, Everyone, Try to Laugh through your tears!! God Bless

Hi pro, Hardin board is basically lap siding made of cement. It is very easy to install as well. The manufacturer recommends that you paint it to preserve its integrity. It’s kind of like putting up wood siding and then not sealing or painting it.
Either product will be fine for a while, but shortly will start showing signs of deterioration.
As for the sake of why you need to cover the shed is simple, The equivalent would be building the frame of a house and only hanging the interior drywall. Nothing on the outside to protect what’s on the inside. I hope this helps you out.
Dont be afraid of “ignorance” , because ignorance is curable by simply learning what one does not know! Then one is no longer ignorant! Ask away my friend!
Yes paint it to preserves it.
