How do I make a natural indoor bug repellent?
I have mosquitos, gnats, and flies constantly in my kitchen. What should I do? Apparently my under cabinet lights attract them. Please advise.

Hi Jacqueline,
Have you considered not using your under cabinet lights when they are about, makes sense to me, or use citronella candles in your home..........................
Mosquitos are said to hate the aroma of the following herbs so you could try making up your own mix and spritzing it around your kitchen - Citronella, Lavender, Catnip, Lemon Balm, Basil, Peppermint, Garlic, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Marigold :)
Hi Jacqueline,
John makes a good point about the under the cabinet light, turn off if you can.
The gnats and fruit flies are probably coming from the eggs on fruit and vegetables brought into the home, wash them thoroughly and refrigerate them as soon as possible, with the exception of bananas. Contain any peelings you are keeping for compost in a sealed container like a plastic coffee can, keep the lid on tight. The gnats and fruit flies already have a short life span, so their population is probably several generations in the making. The bottom line is to remove any possible food source or breeding ground (on the produce). Keep the produce at a temperature that is not favorable to them.
The mosquitoes are attracted to moisture, so if your sink is wet when not in use, dry it off with a towel.
Hope this helps in controlling them.
