Well, Mad, we are in a suburb outside Dallas, Tx. Feral hogs come up from the creeks and woods at night. One mama pig can rip up a lawn in a couple of hours to feed her half grown babies. Think: small rhinos or hippos. They are always looking for grubs. Grubs aerate the lawn differently than earthworms because the grubs are bigger. I my opinion, kill the grubs with anything allowed. Poison them, dig them up and sell the grubs for fishing, or replace the grubs with concrete blocks. Whatever it takes! ☺️
Grubs are the larval stage of beetles. Not all beetles are bad but the Japanese beetle is (they defoliate trees and shrubs and do not belong in North America) and there are safe non toxic methods to get rid of them. But first you need to figure out what kind of grubs you have in your lawn. If you have Japanese beetles you can use a beetle trap that lures them in with a sexual attractant. They fly into the trap and cannot fly out. I wrote a post about a Japanese Beetle trap hack that is easier to use and less expensive in the long run. Please do not use pesticides on your lawn especially if you eat vegetables grown in your yard, have animals that run around on the lawn, and especially if you have children who use the lawn to play on. Using pesticides have long term effects on the planet and your body. Good luck

Milky Spore is an option, but will require repeated applications and is usually only effective for 7 years.
