How can I make use of a very scorched and burned stainless steel pot??
I am tired of throwing away cooking pots which have become scorched (or worse) on their bottom and/or sides. Surely there is a second life for these poor things!

I burned a pot one time about 3 years ago but I didn't throw it away instead I went to Walmart and got me a can of BAR KEEPERS scouring powder and it took all the burned scorched crap out of my pot and to this day I am still using that pot ...looks good as new ....worth the money to clean it ....
I put Baking Soda on the bottom a drop of water let sit overnight then scrub
You can use erases on them. Or get some foil, tide and scrub along with sis pads. Or there
are sponges you can get on eBay or wish.
Hmmm... Looking at the previous answers, they are giving you cleaning tips , my thoughts were going in a totally different direction , lol . I would re purpose it . I would use a scraper and get any loose burnt spots off , spray paint it and use it as a planter ! Maybe for fresh herbs in the kitchen ??? Make sure you put rocks in the bottom for drainage !
If you live near a beach (lake, or ocean) take them there. Kids would have a whale of a time playing with them in the sand.
Clean them as best you can, remove any handles, sand smooth if needed, then paint, and drill holes near the top. Shop a home improvement store for light-weight chain and make a hanging basket. You can get very creative with the outside (stencil, decoupage, or use a faux paint technique). Don't forget to drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage.
Here's a similar project I made using a light fixture from a broken ceiling fan. I made a bird feeder, but it will give you the basic idea of attaching with chains.

Good luck, and enjoy being creative with your pot - no need to ditch it!
I would fill it with pebbles then soil and plant a plant in it. Some are way too pretty to throw away. If you are going to use it outdoors you may want to make some holes in the bottom too.
