Jonalee: have you tried Goof Off?
You can use a chemical stripping agent, I like Citristrip, as it is less toxic. Or you can sand it off.
If you furniture was painted... you will need to chemically strip the surface.

Citristrip is a great product to use! It is less toxic ( says on the bottle it can be used indoors but I wouldn't recommend it because of the mess it can create). It works quickly! Sometimes it only takes one application. If there are several layers of paint, it could take a few applications.
Need to strip it.
