How do I hide the cords (cable, tv, internet) in my built in shelving?
We just bought a house that has all the cable, tv, internet cords on the bottom wall of our built in shelving unit. The shelves are glass, and are on either side of the fireplace. Thoughts on what we can do to hide this mess?

Suggestions for Large and deep Alcove/niche in living room ?
Need help with how to decorate around a tv in this space. It's a deep Alcove next to the fireplace that goes from the floor to the ceiling!
I would get a nice looking box with a lid or a tall square basket, cut a hole in the back, and hide the cords in there! use twist ties to get the cords that stick out neat and in order. Good luck!
It would be more work and expense than Morgan's suggestion, but you could install a wooden shelf above that area and make, or order online, doors to close it in. You could also hang a curtain on a spring rod to hide it.
Could you build some doors for
the bottom section? It would look great and give you lots of hidden storage. :)
I would put a shelf and then add doors to it. Double job , well done.
You could also add doors to the area.
Definitely add doors. You can find doors at Habitat for Humanity really cheap.
at office supply stores you can get cord covers that can be painted to match the wall. hollow tubes with a slit along the side, the kit comes with corner pieces to go across doors, windows. if any of those cords get hot, I would do a door with a metal insert so air circulates
Slatted doors cut to size with a wood trim all around would look great. I have to admit though that Morgan’s suggestion to use baskets would be cheap and easy. The issue is finding the right size.
It's not a big mess. You can tie the cables together and run them carefully along the wall. If you of course use all these cables. Let's say I haven't watched TV for more than five years. I found a replacement for TV in the form of streaming tv services and am very happy about it. This is much more suitable for me and I do not need to install an additional cable for the TV. Now I have much more choice than I had in normal television
Make a three sided plywood or some thin wood box (open in the back and in the bottom) and paint it white. Put it in the lower part of your shelving unit to hide the cords. Easily removed and will cover the cords.

Add two smoked glass sliding doors below that last shelf, or you could even use masonite board and cover it with some great fabric.
