you can try and cover it with a blanket or a warm covering on days when it will freeze, sometimes the weather does not like plant growing times...
I have covered plants when there was a frost predicted and they did survive. Give it a try!
You can use a plastic tarp or plastic trash bags and newspapers to keep the squash off the ground and covered during the night and frost hours. Let the squash get as large as you can, but never frozen. Frost will kill the blooms but not the squash. If you are only able to get baby squash, use them in a dish with baby corn, baby carrots, baby green beans, plum tomatoes, and baby spinach, with either a cheese sauce, cream sauce, tomato sauce, or low fat Italian salad dressing. If you get nothing but the blossoms, wash them, dip them in a batter, and fry them for a great side dish. I would love to hear how your squash turn out. Could you photograph them now and every week or stage, and write up your project for Hometalk? Best wishes ☺️
Just cover the entire plant with a tarp or sheet before night fall.
Hello. You can try to build a little tent around it with clear plastic. This will act as a green house. Take it off during the day to let any excess moisture escape. I would also cover the base with leaves or mulch. It may just be too late though if they are just blooming now.
