It depends on the vinyl. You get a permanant adhesive a brand is oracle 651 which will work and stay on. But some are non permanant they are the ones they normally use for wall decals. Check on the label for more information.
My guess would be yes. The issue may come when/if you decide to remove the vinyl from the ceramic tiles in the future. I believe you'd have to heat them with a hair dryer or a commercial heat gun on low setting.
We did it in our house, but be sure to thoroughly clean and rinse the tiles first. You do not want any residue from grease or anything on them.
