How do I put in new floor?
We live in an old house. Just bought it 2 years ago. The floors are bad. Carpet over them, but soft underneath. What can we do with the floors?

tear out the carpet, tear out the sub floor and replace it.. do not just put more subfloor over the old..you will be sorry... then go back with the new diy floating floor, easy, quick, long lasting and looks good
First you need to check to see if the floor joists are solid and even. You can put down a layer of 1/2 inch plywood and then use any product for flooring you like.
If the floor is squishy it could be your subfloor isn't attached to the joists properly but you need to do some investigating to see what's going on under there. Don't be afraid- pull up a corner of the carpet.
