HOw do I make my backyard inviting ?

Are you able to replace the fence? If not then I would clean up all the hanging vines and low weeks in front of the fence. Maybe you can create a wandering flower bed with a brick border between the fence and the lawn that will create a focal point in front of the fence. This will look pretty if you replace the fence or not.

Great space! That crepe myrtle was originally a bush and left unattended turned into a spindly tree. I am not fond of cutting down trees, but this one might have to go. I would clean up the entire yard and if you want a lawn, take remedies to reclaim a weedy yard.

First decide how you want to use the space. Outdoor kitchen, fire pit, patio? Flower beds? If you have children or pets, be sure to keep them in mind when designing your space.

You have a great place to work with. I would either give the fence a good pressure wash and either paint it a bright white or reseal it to bring it back to life. I love the idea of a border of flowers or greenery all around the bottom with some type of border which you can mow up to. Just cleaning all the "scragillys" (is there such a word?) up and do a little grass planting in your bare spots. The corner would be a great place to maybe put a small settee or chair grouping to just relax.

I had a stockade fence. I found that I could STAIN it with a colored clear stain. This allowed the wood to show thru but gave a hint of color. I choose a light green the same color "new wood" is when it comes from the mill. I only had to restrain this about once every 10 years. Now, after that is done, add some vines! lots of nice green & flowering Clematis vines. They come back every year and grow longer and longer. These will give you a lovely backdrop for a colorful flower garden in front of the vines. Using perennials, look up what zone you are in for flowers. Brecks or Michigan Bulb are two great catalogs that will give you this information. They will also suggest flowers for either shade or full sun. Enjoy you wonderful and colorful back yard and Please, do post some pictures. Oh, add some solar twinkle lights not only to your garden but also to your back porch and maybe a wind chime and some wall creatures.

Cut back all the crazy vines. Paint the fence. Add "stuff" - a swing, birdbath, bird feeders, border perennial flower garden, lighting, firepit...

I would get rid of all weeds and if the fence is paintable do a white wash on it if it isn't replaceable.. Use grass seed where you have bare spots.

Maybe hang some flower pots on the fence. String some glow in the dark lights on that bush out there and on the fence.

I would cut down the crepe myrtle tree. And clean up the fence. Power washing does wonders. The big corner would be a great place for a gazebo or tent sitting area. I don’t see any bamboo in the pictures but I water feature or dry river bed by the bamboo area would be fun.

Add a short deck and frame the bottom and fill it with a layer of dirt and sand and then top it off with coarse stone tamped down, before you add your deck. This will give you drainage so you don't get mold and standing water under the deck. Add a railing and steps up to get on the deck. You can add flower boxes to the railings either outside or inside for added atractiveness. The ideas expressed by others for the fence and the yard itself are all good too.

I would terrace the yard and replace the fence and get rid of the invasive plant.

Cut back all the dead stuff from over the fence. Put in a corner Arbour and grow climbing plants over it. Plant up with flowering shrubs, Attractive Foliage Shrubs and bulbs for the spring. Have fun.

In my suggestion, It's better to cut down all the weeds and apply whitewash on the fence and clear all the unwanted things in the backyard. Plan to implement some landscaping ideas to make the backyard more attractive. The landscaping needs to be properly maintained, and plan some patio and backyard shed too.
