How do I improve a cement patio that collects leaves and pine needles that leave marks on the cement?

  • Yes, I feel for you. I live on a street by a "T" intersection. Every time the wind blows, it all ends up in my yards. I do have a gardener that comes once a week to tidy things up, but I still sweep things up during the week in between their visits. You need to start to sweep things up on a regular basis. Then to clean from the staining, hose it down. Squirt some Dawn dish soap over the patio. Take a long handled, stiff bristle push broom and brush brush brush. To get rid of any stains, toss down a bunch of white vinegar (it is cheap, about $2 a gallon) and brush some more. Then rinse off with a garden hose. Now you have a beautiful clean patio. I am out on mine every day at some point. It needs to be clean as I don't want the pets to drag in any more dirt or debris that I have to clean up again inside. Once you have a clean pretty patio, you might find you will use it more. I can't imagine not spending time outside every day. Good for the mind body and soul. Plus plucking a few weeds can't hurt either. Enjoy!

    • There you go! Now you know! There are all sorts of concrete cleaners out there but they are full of chemicals. This is the thrifty and environmentally friendly way to at least try before resorting to stronger methods. Keep us posted and let us know how it turned out. 🌞

Sun We had the same problem. You must have pine trees. It left long stripts, and stain on my patio floor. A power wash removed the stains. It ruined our umbrella. Solution. We had a 70 ft pine tree taken down. It gave us very little shade, but what a mess. Aloha!

Sweep off the pine needles and leaves often. No different than your kitchen floor.

Clean it well as suggested above. The purchase a concrete sealer and apply.

Once you clean it you can apply a concrete sealer or paint it.
