Autumn is a great time to plant trees and bushes. They can get well-rooted and grow strong stems and trunks. Azaleas can winter outside as long as they live through the first winter. Mulching is good, Pauline. Depending on the type you have, some azaleas bloom from spring through autumn. Best wishes. ☺️
