Here's some info on the best essential oils for keeping bugs away. Lavender is definitely on the list! I would dilute it with water in a spray bottle, shake it up and use whenever you need it! https://thethingswellmake.com/essential-oils-mosquitos-homemade-repellent-spray-recipe/
I haven't had luck with oils keeping bugs away, but they do smell good. I would think this remedy would work inside and out.

Ants: Safe and Effective Cure
I use a natural insect spray, Greenerways, that I buy on Amazon. It has lemongrass oil, cedar oil, and citronella oil. It comes in several sizes and they also have the yard spray in a hose attachment bottle.
They also make those citronella spirals that kind of smolder to keep the bugs away. When we were kids we would also just get cattails and burn them on their long stems where we would camp... its the smoke that keeps them away.
I find this a great idea.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BhV-o77RqQ&pbjreload=10 you can also use a box fan
We're a little further north, but it's been such a wet summer here and into the fall. This is the best bug spray that we use and it seems to work really well. Hope this helps. Hugs, Holly

I just put a few drops of lavender oil on a cotton ball and place them on window sills with a bottle top in case the lavender ruins the paint
I've eliminated my problem with ants getting into my dog's food by pouring baking soda & vinegar on patio surface..scubbing it into surface..let sit there for 10 minutes..then rinse...you can also mix same solution with water to spray areas where ants trail to unwanted areas...it really works!😁
