How do I save and replant iris bulbs?

I have dug up tons of iris bulbs that are in a spot that I didn't like at our new house. Do I wait until spring or replant them now in the fall? Should they be fresh or dried out when replanted?

Plant them as is
Plant asap or they will dry out and be no good.
Plant them now, on October. They will come up in Feb. in the Deep South, and later in cooler areas. They could easily bloom through Sept. Beware—they will root and spread wherever you plant them. Great for ragged fence lines, old hill of dirt that won’t grow grass, and in lovely flowerbeds. And you possibly missed some this go-around. Just dig up any you recognize next spring. Enjoy, Gail! ☺️
