Walk around your neighborhood and see what plants or landscaping seem to do well and try to mimic that. If you want to grow grass, here is how we did that - https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/2017/08/09/ive-learned-growing-grass/
It depends on what the problem is... lawns need a lot of water, so that could be the issue. You may also need to add some grass seed to fill in empty spots. Fall is a great time to do that. Good luck!
we had problems this year with extreme heating and would not spend the several hundred dollars to water the lawn. it was dreadful looking by end of August.
we bought peat-moss, top soil, and grass seed that is called ''water saver grass seed""
put down peat moss, spread grass seeds, and lightly top with topsoil.. good idea to do if you know it is going to rain that week. using your garden hose, gently water a few minutes each day that it didn't rain..
takes about 2 - 3 weeks and we now have a lush green lawn...
yeah, for a couple of months until the snow comes.... but hoping the spring lawn will look good, if not we will repeat process again.
