How do i fertilize bell peppers?
I have a container garden going and know I need to fertilize soon. What is the best fertilizer, that's not too harsh, to use?

Miracle Grow is good
Hi Vicki. I like to use either tomato tone (you can use it for all veggies), or fish fertilizer. THe fish fertilizer does have a smell but works great and is all organic.
I use the miracle grow tomato and vegetable fertilizer in the extended release type. What ever you do, do not foliar feed your vegetables, you will get big green plants, but little produce. They need fertilization at the soil, extended out to the outer edge of the plants canopy, at least, that way all the roots will get fed, not just the base of the plant. I hope you find what you need, Vicki!
Hi. I would start with a balanced fertilizer with a 1-1-1 ratio (ie. 20-20-20). Once flowering begins, change over to a high potassium fertilizer. Most fertilizers blended for tomatoes fit this description. I've been using a fertilizer with a 9-15-30 ratio with great results! Also... Definitely stick with compact (container) varieties for best results too! Hope this helps a bit!
