How do you make sea shell stepping stones?
Going to the beach with 8 grandchildren (and their parents) for Thanksgiving week. I would like each child to make 2 stepping stones. One is for Mimi and one is for them. I've been told that acrylic paint will work on the shells if we use mod podge or another sealer. What do I use for the base? What else do I need to know?

I craft with shells often and just found out that sanding the shells gently will help paint or varnish adhere better and that there is a special glue just for shells, since they're porous. I haven't tried it, but here's the post. https://www.simplenaturedecorblog.com/the-secret-to-making-diy-oyster-shell-wreath/?fbclid=IwAR0nLz5F-GcqRbBngK5uMwOmkdaGHuDaATd9CxeZKoTans9OiuZezwl2_jk
Hi N Yvonne. My name is Cindy. You will need a form to make your stepping stones. Old cake pans work great. Line it with plastic wrap and then place the shells, stones, etc in the form. You can use small stones to make smiley face, flowers, initials and such. Then mix your cement according to package directions and gently pour it into your form. Let it dry completely and remove from form. Pull the plastic wrap off and put it in your garden. You will be making future memories with your grandchildren when you make these. Enjoy that special day. From Cindy.
Nothing to add, but what fun! That was my family's tradition too, but no more. Guess I should take the dogs and go myself! Fantastic project, have a blast and be safe on this holiday with your family! 🍁🦃🍂
Thank you so much. Each and every one. We will have a total of 15 there. Most of us are so excited. You would not believe the emails sent back and forth mainly about food....lol
