How do I dye a rug?
I have 3-14/36 rug it does have a rubber backing bought the rugs at wal-mart. Only 1 yr old. Paid $60 for all 3. They are multi color of off white brown w med turquoise color. Not loud colors. I want to touch up w a dark blue r navy color. I read your first idea. So I'm giving a more description of my rugs. Thanks. If you have any Suggestions again.

Mary Ann, I've dyed rugs like you have described with fabric dye and they came out great. I'm sending you several videos. Maybe you can get several ideas from them.

If they're synthetic, they're not going to take dye. I would water down some chalk paint and use that instead.
I recently dyed a rug black and would recommend Procion fiber-reactive dye. Very pigmented, it's hard getting from white to black, but this did the trick. Make sure your rug is natural fibers. If it isn't, there are special dyes or steps you need to take.
