How do I refinish this end table?
I have an old end table, solid wood, scared and scratched. What is the easiest way to refinish it, or paint it? Thank you, Terri tldesing1@gmail.com

If you are looking at painting the cabinet try chalk paint. I just did our hutch and here is the post on how I did it. https://lifeonsummerhill.com/how-to-paint-with-chalk-paint/
Here are step by step instructions to refinish your table, sand & stain. When sanding, just remember to go in straight lines following the grain of the wood. Good Luck!

Hi,
You could Stick Contact on top, or Vinyl Wood look Flooring.
I’ve stripped old furniture down with Stripeeze but it’s time consuming although rewarding. Try this: I took Dollar store floor tiles ( I had left overs) & put down on the top. Read the directions & lay out first. If you want more security a glue applied first can be done but I didn’t do this. You can paint the legs, etc., which I suggest you do first. You can also put decorative wood molding around the edges. Home Depot has a huge selection & some have a decorative pattern on them b
Hi,
I would lightly sand it with 120 grit and then follow up with 220 grit. Paint with chalk paint in the color of your choice. Or, if the top if real wood, sand it and stain the top, but paint the bottom for a nice two-toned look.
Hope this helps!
I agree with the other answer about sanding, painting the bottom half, and staining the top of it. Here's an example of two end tables I did this way- https://www.justalittlecreativity.com/2016/07/farmhouse-style-end-tables.html
But if you wanted to do something REALLY fun you could make the top into a functioning game board and still use it as an end table, here's an example- https://www.justalittlecreativity.com/2017/01/end-table-into-a-game-table.html
I have chalk painted several pieces and I have liked everyone of them. If you get tired of the color you can always repaint another color.
Call me crazy but I think it looks great just how it is. I would just put a coat or two of topcoat and call it done.
It is very pretty just as is. But if you want a fun paint color look at Rethunk junk paint. It’s not chalk or milk paint. But it’s the best furniture paint around. I’ve painted dozens of pieces and thrift store finds with that paint. All pieces are still holding up. This is a before and after with Rethunk Junk paint by Lara.
Hi Terri, personal preference, myself I would chalk paint it, it will breath new life into it.
