Hi Jim. You can faux paint onto glass to give the impression of stained glass. There are also films you can use to get the effect. Good luck.
Jim, Glass is stained to make say a lamp of flowers. You have to use glass that is cut up already. You fastened it with copper ribbon and glue. Aloha!

It depends on what your goal is. You can use glass paint to create the look of stained glass or you can use glass to create works of art. Stained glass is different colors, textures, patterns, and thickness. You cut them, often using a pattern to create a design. The edges are buffed to remove uneven sections and prepare the surface to apply copper foil. The foil provides the surface for the lead solder to connect the pieces of the pattern. Many art stores and community colleges offer classes. Making stained glass art is a beautiful hobby, you can create small items such as stars or large elaborate windows. The only limit is your imagination and budget. Enjoy
