As stated above they are harmless, every time I see one inside I gently pick him up and take him out side to find food. they are your friend by helping to control other bugs that may try to enter you home Please don't kill them . remember the balance of nature, if you kill off one species then the other one that they keep under control could invade you home then you will have a real problem.
The most I have ever heard of is that they can pinch you, but there mouths are too small to bite us. I do get them in my house, but it is usually around the bird cages where we do tend to get some moths that come in the bird seed bags. They help keep them under control. I found a garden spider once on one of my potted hibiscus plants when they were outside, I also saw that I had some mites on the underside of a nearby leaf. I left the spider alone. The next day, not a spider mite to be found and the garden spider had moved onto greener pastures.
