What can I do for flat jewelry storage?
I have a large costume jewelry collection. Currently my necklaces hang on hooks, multiples to one hook. I noticed that some of them are tarnishing because of this metal on metal contact. I found an antique map cabinet that would have been ideal to store my pieces flat and dust free, however it was way out of my price range. Does anyone have an alternative idea for flat jewelry storage for a large collection?

Hi Amy! What about acid free document boxes? They can be found for under $12 and you could line them with fabric, if you wanted, and decorate the outside. This is what I'm talking about. They also come in some pretty colors:

there are some cool jewelry hanging organizers (like a shoe organizer) where each piece gets its own slot - that might work - saw them at charming charlies a while back

Lots of jewelry here too. I have multiple dresser drawers with silverware tray dividers and a series of little boxes to keep things separate. As crazy as it sounds, I know where everything is and what I have.
I use the underbed flat Sterilite containers w/rollers so I can have the jewelry sealed, the air is what tarnishes. I've glued a lrg piece of suede in the bottom so nothing slides around.
