Weeds will always come back. Weeds are spread by wind wildlife and people. You can smother them with newspaper, cardboard or landscape fabric. Then cover with mulch. No sun = no weeds. And any weeds that pop up in the mulch are shallow rooted and will be easy to pluck as they appear.
Thanks
You can spread PREEN in the area. It is supposed to kill new growth. We used to get lots of weeds because we used irrigation water from the river and it carried a lot of weed seeds.
That is so frustrating Keena. Try landscape fabric to help control them. They still find a way but it is way easier to control them this way.
Hi Kenna. I'm Cindy. I love having a garden and enjoy sharing when I harvest vegetables. Now that I'm older, I can no longer get down on my hands and knees to weed. Last year my sons built a raised garden for me. It eliminated the job of weeding. There are a few weeds here and there but nothing like it used to be. I totally recommend a raised bed. Good luck Kenna.
Someone recently recommended Spectracide weed & grass killer that you attach to your hose. She said they worked great & she used it 3x year& you can get it at Lowe's.
She said there is one that kills weeds & roots around flowers. There's another one that kills weeds & their roots & doesn't hurt your grass. I can't wait to try it next spring. Hope this helps you.
Thanks y'all. The weeds have been relentless this year. My flowers grew but never bloomed. Y'all have given me some grate ideas. I am going to get my boys to raise the flower beds. And maybe the vegi garden. But definitely cover them with newspaper and mulch. Spectracide for the grass. Got me some projects now to get ready for spring.
