Hi , you might wait for great sales on discontinued cabinets, they will probably be cheaper than buying the supplies to make your own from scratch...You won't have the same satisfaction , as you do when you create something , but you can paint bought cabinets to make them your own !

You could make your cupboards for next to nothing if you use pallet wood! You can paint or stain it any color you want and usually you can find pallets for free! Also look at your local Habitat store or surplus building supply house for great deals on cabinets and countertops.
Bernadette, here is a good video for you, and I might add, check out Habitat for Humanity first. They just opened up a huge place in our area called Restore. It's amazing what they have for very low costs. They even have furniture!
