You have a leak somewhere. tubing from gas tank to carb??? Carb gaskets? find it.
Sarah...You can buy cover for it that would possibly lessen the smell!
If there is no leak, you probably have spills where it is filled. After each use, clean thoroughly on all sides before storing.
If you have a super sense of smell you can cover with some type of cover as suggested by Tinyshoes.
Sarah, do have your mower checked out, for safety and efficiency. But also be sure you clean the mower after it cools down, after every use. Use an old rag or a shop cloth, but wipe off leaves, grass, oil, gas, and any other debris, off the top of the mower and under and around each blade. And cover the mower with a tarp, always after it has cooled and after you are sure no gas is leaking. If you smell gas, there is a potential for fire. Safety first! ☺️
