You can refinish with a dark oak stain. Prep the furniture by removing any topcoat. Sand or rough with fine steel wool. Clean with TSP or denatured alcohol. Stain. Seal. This is considering that you don't have any damage that requires repairs.
You can stain directly over with gel stain with minimal prep. You can go darker but not lighter.

Lightly sand the furniture. Clean it all over with alcohol or TSP. Stain the furniture with dark oak stain, and use a soft paintbrush to avoid heavy brush marks. Seal your work with a clear sealer or a clear wax. It should gleam and last a long time. Best wishes. ☺️
Judy,. Wash with Murphy's Oil Soap, dry completely. You need to use a dark stain. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's to find the stain you want. Aloha!
Blonde furniture usually doesn't age well. If the wood is in good shape, sand it lightly and use a gel stain for the best results. If the wood isn't in great shape, painting it is normally the best option without stripping the entire piece.
It’s in great shape.. thanx.. will try !
