How do I separate my Aloe plant?
My Aloe plant has huge stems and looks awful. Its looks flat in the pot and hangs all over. I removed some new growths and have them in water to give away as starter plant. Should I try to separate the big ones?

Hi Francine,
Are you over watering it?
When I had one that got to big and was looking mangy I carefully removed it from the pot and gently separated the individual plants. I then scrubbed the pot and let it dry. Put in fresh dirt and replanted the medium plants that I had separated back in the pot. Watered it well but didn't soak as I didn't want it standing in water. Put it in a semi sunny and warm window and it took off big time. The plants that I hadn't reused I gave to people who wanted some aloe or in the case of the big mangy one I planted outside. It didn't make it through the winter snow but it was good for that summer and had new growth that I could share with others again.
