How can I redo my counters to not be too busy looking against my tile?
I need HELP in deciding colours and info on sponging my plain old counter tops in our winter Park Model in Arizona. The pics I'm sending are just a piece of laminate I'm using to practise on. It shows it up against my Mexican tile and another one up against a another plain wall in the kitchen. Thoughts Plz?? Is it too busy??
Kitchen is very small and narrow. Cabinets are an antique white with bulk bronze handles
thank you

I'm not sure just sponge paint will hold up on counters. Check out the kits for painting over laminate at Home Depot . Step by step instructions are in the kit s. Love your tile. Maybe they have something in Orange and yellows. Good luck.
Not too busy. The counter brings out the colors of the tile. Will look great with the white cabinets. make sure you apply a good sealer on the sponge painting.
HI LJ
Yes, you can sponge paint your counter then use several coats of sealer when you're done. Many people will sponge paint their counters to look like granite or marble. I do recommend that you spend some time researching this project. I've read several articles that show different techniques. I do love your tile though so if it were me, I'd try to match the blue in the tile. (but then, blue is my favorite color - and of course, you can choose any color.) I think if you paint your counter with a solid color it won't look too "busy". Here's a link to one article about painting a countertop with a sponge then sealing it. The most important part is to be sure to do the prep work. With proper prep, the color should last fairly well. I've also read that it's a good idea to maintain a painted countertop by refreshing the sealer every year or two. That will help it last longer. Also, this type of countertop cannot handle a lot of heat so unless you want to use an epoxy sealer you'll need to be very careful about putting hot pots on the counter. Have wooden boards (sanded smooth or use chopping boards for anything hot.) When you choose your sealer find out the what temperature it can handle. Epoxy can usually handle a bit higher heat, but CHECK to be sure. I hope this helps you and starts you on the path to a beautiful new countertop and backsplash. Wishing you the best!

I'm with Linda. The counter top is too busy with the vivid colors you have chosen, which I love by the way. Solid color is THE way to go. The deeper rust in the tile or the green in the tile would both look great. I wouldn't add any extra colors as the wall and the tile are nice together already.
Use a good epoxy paint and pick out a color from the countertop that you like.
