How do I cover a dark granite backsplash?
When I moved my family into a bachelor pad that had just had the kitchen remodeled, I was left with a beautiful, but very dark kitchen. The counter and entire backsplash are black and brown granite. Can I put some sort of stick and peel grasscloth wallpaper or faux stone pattern over the granite or will it look worse?

I think it would cheapen the look. Add under counter stick on lights.
Grass cloth would be impossible to keep clean. There are some really high end looking contact papers on markets that would lighten the backsplash & be easy to keep clean. Adding some LED strip lighting, rope lighting under counters will also lighten it alot. On the more industrial side you could also go with metal peel n stick panels on backsplash or actual metal panels it would look nice with dark counters and reflect some of the light back off of backsplash. here's a few types some more industrial some more modern https://www.google.com/search?q=metal+peel+n+stick+panels+for+backsplash&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS750US750&oq=metal+peel+n+stick+panels+for+backsplash&aqs=chrome..69i57.15822j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
You will have to roughen up the granite, especially if it is extremely shiny, in order to make anything stick to it and I am not sure that is a good idea, just in case you get tired of the cover you put on and you will need to replace it again in the future. If you do not care, then maybe a nice tile would work.
