I have dogs that tend to trample my plants.
How high of a border would you need to keep them out. You can put a decorative border around.
Thanks for your reply. They are large dogs and can step right over.
Thanks for your reply. My dogs can step right over that.
Yes I can see that happening! Can you build a small fence around your garden? In my yard that won't work, as I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Great Dane come to visit!
See what you think of these?
So welcome Julia! Having pets and gardening can be a challenge. Hopefully the wire fence will work out for you. I have large dogs visiting and my 11.5 year old Doberman terrier mix still scales 6+ foot fences with ease if she is after something.
How high would you need it. If your dogs are like a couple of mine, they would jump a four foot high fence without blinking to get at a squirrel running the fence line on the other side of the garden. You may be better of putting a fence around your existing garden. I had to bring mine up to eight feet to keep them out of my veggie garden.
I just use the green metal posts you hammer into the ground and went to Menards and picked up a long roll of metal fencing that was four feet high. I used zip ties to fasten to the posts. When our king Shepard and Shepard mix flatfoot jumped it to chase a squirrel and trampled a quarter of my veggies, I used the rest of the roll to put up a second level to put it at eight feet and put a gate in it from an old dog run we used to use. What is really funny is the dogs that can jump the four feet into the garden have never once tried to jump the four foot fencing around the back yard. Go figure, never know what a dog will do I guess!
