How do I replace my living room floor?
I have pulled up my carpet and now have no idea what to do with the entire living room floor. The area is 900 sq ft. We do not want carpet again. We like some flooring but that has looked to be more than we wantto spend. We considered painting and sealing but we have animals. 2 cats and one dog. Any thoughts?

Lily,. What not Laminate flooring, it's easy to clean. You could also have the flooring that's there, have it striped, and then varnished. Aloha!
Hardwood, vinyl or tile. Hardwood is a classic, but can get pricey. I ripped up some laminate (not kid and pet friendly in my opinion), and replaced with hardwood. Tile is easy, but can be cold and hard underfoot. If in a cold snowy climate you would need in floor heating. Not comfortable for pets unless you add rugs and extra squishy bedding. Vinyl planks is one of the new hot products. Look fabulous, easy to maintain and takes a beating. Budget friendly too. Consider your lifestyle and climate. No one wants to spend more time cleaning fussy flooring.
Thank you both!
Hello, I have read that some engineered hardwood’s and laminates are pretty sturdy, we have the traditional hardwood and our 70 pound dog is scratching up the finish.
After installing these floors in our daughters room, we ended up using them downstairs as well. We have 3 pets also and these floors are holding up well! https://thehoneycombhome.com/installing-vinyl-floors/
Beautiful!
Tile all the way
