    I also make my own air freshener with essential oils. Some use water, some use witch hazel, some use rubbing alcohol as the suspension liquid, Spray with water and get things wet. Witch hazel tends to be costly for what you get. Rubbing alcohol does have water in it and you don't get a lot for your money. Even for a buck at the dollar store. I use cheap vodka. 750 ml for $7. The vodka evaporates and leaves the scent behind. No wetting, not expensive, no residue.
