Joanne, the floor plan of the kitchen is dependent on where the plumbing, walkway, doors etc. are. If you could give me more description and the measurements of the space I could help you more. Thanks! Liz SimpleDecoratingTips.com
Too many variables to answer. Location of windows, HVAC, plumbing, etc.

Hi, Joanne,
Are you able to post photos, and provide room measurements, including ceiling height.
If you have your coffee maker near your refrigerator (for filtered water), or near your sink, you should have enough space above the coffee maker for cups.
Dishes can go in a cabinet closer to sink or dishwasher, to minimize the distance you'll walk to put them away. Keep glasses and table cutlery in same area.
Baking/cooking items, bowls, measuring equipment, etc. near your stove, if space exists. Keep spices, flours, sugars away from heat and light.
Keep infrequently used appliances (waffle irons, blenders, etc.) in a lower cabinet or on a baker's rack.
