How do I make a tiled counter top smooth?
I have a tiled kitchen countertop that I would like to make smooth. I never feel like the countertop is clean. What can I do without replacing it?

Score the grout so that new grout will adhere. Then grout the tile so that it is smooth and even with the tile. Seal once dry.
If you add new grout to level out, you really need to dig out quite a bit or it will chip out. I'd just clean well and seal re grout.
I agree that tiled kitchen countertops are hard to keep clean.
However, the look and feel of a tiled surface is formed by not only the ridges in the grouting lines, but the shape of, and the beveled edges of each individual tile. Unfortunately, even you go to all the work and expense of removing the old grouting, and reapplying, the feel and look of the countertop surface will not be entirely smooth or flat.
