How do I make my pantry more functional?
My pantry is chaos. It’s relatively large but the wire shelves are not functional and do not help with organizing.

At least you have a pantry! I so envy anyone that does. What you can do is get plexiglass or buy shelving pieces or even stair treads from any home improvement center. Place on top of existing wire shelving. Problem solved. Next comes organization. Here are some cool sites!

I would place wood over the wire shelves for extra support and use glass jars to organize the contents. You can use chalk labels to write the expiration dates for what's in the jars! https://amzn.to/2SWzRCB
I don't like the wire shelving either. I solved my problem with a type of non-sticky Contact paper product which is essentially a heavy weight flexible rubbery material. You could also use regular contact paper, just don;t peel the paper off. This gives you a smooth surface to slide stuff on and to keep it from falling through the slits in the shelving. Use plastic oblong containers, containers for shoe storage, make your own from boxes and use the same contact paper as on the shelving but this time stick it on the boxes. Storage for cereals that you can see through, flour, sugar, etc containers, glass recycled jars, the pantry world is your oyster and Google is your friend to find DIY's for your project. I am adding also that you can cut up boxes size to shelving and cover with contact paper. I could go on and on--hope this all gives you an idea or two.
Remove the wire and replace with wood framing and adjustable wood shelving, which can hold significantly more weight.
