Connie...What needs fixing...hardware will make a nice change or try stenciling or mod podge.
If you want them white again, a dilute solution of baking soda (dissolves oils and grease) would clean them. Do not use anything acidic (like vinegar) as it will just make a smeary mess of the oils and grease. Once clean and dry, you can reseal the surface with a spray sealer if the shine isn't back to the original.
Connie, you can always apply Contact paper, wall paper, or mod podge fabric onto your cabinets.
