Valentine Magnetic Message Board – Upcycle DIY
I love crafting with trash and one of my favorite trashy items to make thing from is the rusted lids from empty tin cans. You know vegetables, fruit, tomato paste etc. I just collect them in a small container under my kitchen sink until I am ready to use them. They don't take up much space and once they are cut, rusted and painted they have a very pretty finish.
The first step is to rust the tin. You can find out how I do that here.
Once you have rusted and cleaned the lids they are ready to be cut.
I used a paper template and some tin snips to cut out the shapes I wanted.
To add some a pink tint for Valentines day I used some different pink, red and white paints and a paper towel to dab on the color.
I used a stencil and a white gel pen to add my message and then sealed each piece with Mod Podge.
The last step is to add a magnet to the back. I made a couple of different displays and the magnets make it very easy to move the pieces around.
