Azaleas and camilias are pruned in late spring or early summer after they have bloomed.
Roses are typically pruned in late winter to early spring before they start to leaf out. You can trim or deadhead throughout the growing season to promote growth and more blooms.
I trim them either before the first frost at the end of the season or right after the last frost in the spring.
Hi Janice. I'm Cindy. When it comes to pruning, I use the Old Farmer's method: from Spring thru Fall, only prune during months that have an "R" in their name. For example you can prune in April, there's an R in apRil., but don't prune in May. May does not contain an R. I have been using this method for many years and it has always worked well for me. I like it because it's easy to remember. Good luck Janice.
