How high above a center island should pendant lights be?
I have heard conflicting answers to how high above a center island pendant lights should be. Everything from 30 to 36 inches. I have standard 9 foot ceilings.

Just be sure to hang the lights so no one hits their head and not so high that the glare of the bulbs is obnoxious. As the cords are adjustable, if you aren't sure where you want them you can hang them temporarily until you 'fine tune' your preferred height.
Good suggestions from Robyn. Also keep in mind that the style of pendant fixtures, and the type and shape of the light bulbs will also determine the brightness and circumference of the lumination.
