Call a wildlife rescue group. They usually have methods to trap them without spraying.
Find out where it is getting in. They are nocturnal. When they leave for the evening, then you can block it off so they can't get back in. Do it quick before they nest and have babies! Or just call an exterminator to scare it out for you.
German short haired pointers are magnificent dogs! My brother and sister in law had one, the "runt" of the litter deemed not to be suitable for a hunting dog. He had an extremely pampered life, as they had no children, and lived to a month shy of his 17th birthday.
Loud music and bright lights in/under area where they are for a night or two should get rid of them they are noctural so won't like either the lights or noise. here's home made deskunking for dogs got this from my vet Step 1: Keep Fido outside
You'll probably want to keep your dog outside while you get it together so they don't carry the smell indoors & rub it all over furniture & carpets, beds. Check their eyes; if they're irritated or red, immediately flush them with cool water.Step 2: Mix the Ingredients
Mix together:
Wearing rubber gloves, wash your dog with this solution immediately after they've been sprayed. DO NOT get the solution in their eyes. (If you don't have peroxide, baking soda, and liquid soap on hand, use vinegar diluted with water.)Caution: Do NOT store this mixture or make it ahead of time, as the mixture could explode if left in a bottle.Step 3: Clean and rinse
Rub the mixture through their fur, but don't leave it on too long (peroxide can bleach fur). Rinse them thoroughly.Step 4: Shampoo
Next, wash your dog with pet shampoo and rinse thoroughly. By now, they should be de-skunked and smelling sweet. Thoroughly towel-dry your dog, and be sure to place them in a warm, sunny room for the next couple of hours so that they don't get chilled. Owner cleanup
If your dog rubbed some of the stink onto you, you can rid your clothes of the smell by using regular laundry detergent mixed with a half-cup of baking soda.
Call a wildlife rescue group. Most of them have methods to capture the skunks without them spraying. There was an old lady here who could just call them, pick them up and put them in a cage to set free in the country. She never got sprayed! But, she passed away. :(
