How do I remove tile and grout on furniture?
I have a small desk I got for free. the top of it is covered in cheap looking tile and grout... how can I remove that without too much damage to the actual desk? I want to recover the top with mirror pieces on a project I saw here and make it a small vanity for my granddaughter. Thanks for any advice.

you should be able to remove the tile and grout, but it would be the glue underneath that. 1. Maybe you could fill and smooth it with more glue or a poly compound smooth it before it dries making it flat and cover over.
2.Possible get another thin piece of press board and glue over the old. it would only raise it maybe 1/2 in. you would have a clean start. good luck.

I agree, prying them off will be the easier part. Depending on the residue left, a cleaner like Goof-Off, Goo Gone, scraping and sanding may be the answer. Or, scrape the loose stuff off, and level it with a new base for your mirror pieces.
Pry of with small chisel. Try breaking pieces off with a small hammer, GOGGLES and then pry rest off with hammer and chisel tapping lightly. Sand smooth with a belt sander then resurface with your glass.
