If it's made out of wood I would sand it down and then use gray chalk paint over it. Then seal
So many pretty grey to choose from! Dixie Belle has a very pretty Mason Dixon Gray, Also Jolie's Swedish Grey is a beautiful night grey.
As long as your paint is not peeling you do not need to sand with these paints. Apply your gray and seal with a waterbed poly. :)
If it's wood, you can sand it down and then apply a grey stain. Seal with a clear finish for lasting use.
If you like an industrial look, you could consider covering it with stainless steel. Depending on the size of the table, it could get pricy. A side benefit is it's easy to clean and sanitize.
