How do I remove wallpaper around a backsplash?
Renovating an older house. Previous tenants put wallpaper around the backsplash (several kinds) and I can not get it off It is really bad. Underneath is the speckled white Formica that I can work with. Any suggestions? I have tried peeling and putting glue remover on it but it’s not working. Help!!

Peel as much as possible from the walls.
If you can't get to the backing, you may need to score the paper with a tool. Paper Tiger is easy to find. Light pressure because you don't want to damage the wall behind the paper.
Mix 50/50 fabric softener & warm water in a spray bottle or garden sprayer. I've read that vinegar is as effective but I have never used it.
Allow the mixture to sit for 5 - 10 minutes so that it saturates the adhesive on the paper backing.
Scrape with a plastic scraper.
Once it is all removed, wash the walls with warm soapy water (blue Dawn is my go-to) and a microfiber cloth.
Kathy has the solution with the paper tiger. The only thing would add is to use Dif wallpaper remover with hot water in a spray bottle, let it soak in after using the tiger at least 15 min, keep wet, then start scraping.
Wall paper is in two layers. The part you see and the paper that holds the glue on, on the backside. Spraying water on the top surface especially if it is a vinyl type wall paper will do little but run off. Find a seam and pick off the top layer with your fingers. Once a piece of that is lifted spray with water and let sit for a few minutes. The under layer will soften and you can peel it off with a 4 " wide paint scraper. Do small sections. The key is to get to the part that is glued and soften it with water.
